Murals of Baltimore and Mr. Michael Kirby was contracted by the Sarasota Chalk Festival to be a featured artist in their event in 2011. Mr. Kirby went to Sarasota and worked with the Sarasota Opera Company to create the first ever theater or opera production on a 3D chalk drawing or 3D Street Painting. Mr. Kirby designed all the sets and production while working in Sarasota for over a year. He created numerous props, canvases, and statues for the production of Madamme Butterfly. The Sarasota Opera Company provided all the opera singers and musicians. Mr. Kirby has created numerous 3D chalk drawings and 3D street paintings throughout Florida.

To this day the Sarasota Chalk Festival has not paid its overdue payment for the creation of this one-of-a-kind work of street art and opera. Mr. Kirby was only paid half of what the Sarasota Chalk Festival agreed to pay.
